From its beautiful craftsman era single family home origin, this legal 3 unit building provides the valuable flexibility to be owner occupied with rental income, making living in this desirable neighborhood uber affordable. It additionally can be used solely for rental income or easily converted back to its glorious original single family home use in an area where homes of this size sell substantially higher.  Sited majestically on a corner, the property enjoys 3 sides without adjacent structures allowing natural light to the yard and home. From the period exterior architecture through to the interior built-ins, stone fireplace and wainscoting, it's a pride of ownership property with two sweet outdoor spaces, a detached garage and access to all that Piedmont Ave, Temescal and Rockridge shops, restaurants, theater, amenities and public transportation have to offer, making it a premier East Bay destination.

Neighborhood Gallery

275 Ridgeway Avenue

Amongst the original neighborhoods in North Oakland, the Piedmont Avenue and Temescal districts are filled with plenty of rich history, and are fun places to call home. They feature a variety of real estate options, from cozy condos to spacious two-story homes, and everything in between. Most of the single family homes in the neighborhood were built during the 1910s and 1920s, with all of the charm of the early 20th-century, but many with renovated interiors and exteriors. If you have been in the market for a North Oakland neighborhood with a vibrant commercial district, recreation centers, theater, fabulous eateries, banks, medical services and convenient access to public transportation and highways, Piedmont Avenue and adjacent Temescal are a great place to search.

Some of the most popular public facilities are located nearby with Rockridge to the north with quaint shops/acclaimed restaurants, Trader Joes, or the Piedmont Ave theater and food to the east, Uptown/downtown businesses to the south and Temescal to the west where you'll find such gems as the Studio One Arts Center. In addition to its annual array of Art Camps, Studio One Arts Center also provides a variety of classes in the Performing Arts, hands-on crafts, painting, and so much more. Adjacent to the Arts Center is the Temescal Pool, which is a great place for adults and kids who want to swim laps, or simply cool off during the summer months.

When residents need to shop, run errands or enjoy a meal with friends and family, they have multiple options.  Broadway/Pleasant Valley, Piedmont Avenue or Telegraph Avenue all serve as the main commercial districts in the area. The restaurants feature several different ethnic cuisines, as well as a tasty option for any time of day. Some of the notable restaurants include:

The CRO Cafe: Located just east of Telegraph Avenue, along 49th Street, this small cafe offers big flavor via their hand-crafted espresso drinks, pastries, and granola. Their outdoor seating provides the perfect atmosphere for enjoying a morning pick-me-up.

Bird & Buffalo: The name of this popular Thai restaurant may not be what you’d expect, their menu certainly delivers for Thai cuisine enthusiasts. Whether it’s a bowl of Drunken Noodles or something hot off the grill, this is the perfect spot for a tasty lunch or dinner.

Cholita Linda is a local So American favorite and Burma Superstar a known local and SF hotspot.

Asmara: One of several Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurants in Temescal, Asmara has been serving delicious North-African cuisine since 1985. In addition to their authentic Eritrean dishes, they also offer smoothies, an incredible cocktail menu, and Tej, a homemade honey wine.

Dona's upscale Mexican Cuisine, The Wolf and Michelen star Commis are all just blocks away.

MacArthur BART Station is located near the southwest corner of Temescal, and provides convenient access to Downtown Oakland (south) Downtown San Francisco (west), Berkeley (north), and the Coliseum. Also close by is the Rockridge BART station. Plus, there are numerous bus routes that service the neighborhood, making it simple to travel to nearby neighborhoods such as Rockrige, downtown Berkeley / UC Campus,  downtown Oakland or Emeryville. State Route 24 connects seamlessly with Interstates 580 and 980 to get to all destinations California.
